Now that we know of Xula’s secret alliance with Kaiju Queen, will she prove her worthiness in the next task that has been laid out for her? Fan favorite voodoo priestess Xula gets the spotlight!
It’s been a couple months since our last outing with this title, so bear with me as we bundle a couple together. While they are parts of different arcs, they’re still connected enough that it’s not a problem. That being said, we close out one arc with issue thirty-two and begin a new with thirty-three of Zombie Tramp.
Closing out the “Gory Road” arc featuring Vampblade, Zombie Tramp absolutely dominates the werewolf she faces. Vampblade also manages very easily against her fishy foe, and the two ladies part ways once again. Janey needs rest after all the events of late, and while she does, Xula takes on a task from the Kaiju Queen. Heading to Bermuda, Xula learns of the task at hand to recover a dagger hidden with a secret cave. Naturally, there are plenty of roadblocks that she must defeat along the way. From monsters to mysterious robed humans, Xula meets the challenges, confident in her powers as the Voodoo Queen.
With these being two different story arcs, it’s not surprising that we have different artists on duty. They’re ones we’ve seen in the series before though, continuing to do well with the book. It’s all on the violent and gory spectrum this time (with the exception of the usual tasty variant covers of course). Sorry fanboys.
It was fun seeing Janey and Katie paired up for another few issues to bring the titles together again. I’m also liking that Xula is the forerunner for this latest arc while Janey is taking a literal dirt nap. Whether you’re current or catching up like me, don’t let either of these issues slip by you.
