After the debacle at the Bizarre Bazaar, Destiny Harper is in more trouble than she imagined. To redeem herself, she must replenish the Vamplets’ supply of blood; but to do that she and the Vamplets must travel to the Undead Dragon Farm and into danger!
It’s been a while since I got to travel to the world of Gloomvania. My initial journey in the first volume plus the Ghost Pony one shot were enough to pique my interests. With the way we left off in volume one of Vamplets, I was eager to find out what happens in issues 3 and 4.
There isn’t much that could ever have prepared Destiny Harper for the situations she gets into in Gloomvania. After her shaky start as the new nanny, she now has to deal with a rather cruel “I’m better than everyone” vampire girl. Seriously, I want to strangle this vampbitch. Along with trying to deal with her, Destiny also has been tasked with getting more blood for the babies. This involves milking dragons. Yup, milking dragons. And of course, while she’s away doing that, more babies get loose and queen bitch vampire stirs up more problems for poor Destiny.
I almost forgot that ugly is good and clean is bad in Gloomvania. I didn’t however forget how good the art is, regardless of what is good vs bad in our world. With a book like this, all the new monsters and their cool designs are fun to see as the story unfolds. I particularly grew fond of Destiny’s newest ally and guardian.
I’m glad I got to read more of this adorable series, full of great artwork and a fun to follow story. It even reminded me that I somehow forgot to share this with my daughter, and I’ll have to correct that asap. This is another fantastic title to share with the kids, and while not everyone’s cup of tea, is an all around enjoyable title to check out.
