Irena Book One: Wartime Ghetto

Irena Book One CoverThere are few books in the caliber of comic book greatness. Of those, Marvel’s John Paul II, the Killing Joke, and indy Heavyweight Messiah are simply tops. Can Irena, Book One make that distinction? It IS a superhero story after all…

Jungle Book #4

Mowgli and Baloo escape from the clutches of the insane apes of the island only to find themselves faced against the deadliest creature in all the wild: Kaa, the giant Python. Even then the combined strength of Bomani, Mowgli, and Baloo may not be enough to stop him from devouring them all.

The Good
The storyline. I am still loving how this story is progressing. Besides the fantasy of being a comic book, I find so much real life in the story. Most people just want to be happy in their own little world, acknowledge others when needed, and only notice the outside when a common enemy emerges. This is represented so well with all the different tribes of animals doing their own thing, surviving and living, until they are forced to deal with Kaa.

Wizard World Austin 2012 Wrap Up Part 2

Believe it or not, the day I could have slept in because it was quiet was the day that I had to be up the earliest! I’m telling you, I lead one glamorous life. Typical con day routine : Get up, get around, check email, check Facebook, head to the convention. I wasn’t honestly feeling breakfast so I decided to skip that and head right down to the convention center. It might have had something to do with my excitement about finally meeting Shawn and his wife, Sun (see the bakery post for more information about her) for the first time in person.

So, it was off to the convention center. Since I was anxious combined with oh crud, Saturday parking is always miserable, I actually ended up at the convention about 45 minutes before the VIPs and Press could access the show floor...

Wreck It Ralph

I usually do not review movies for the site but really felt the urge to after seeing this one. Occasionally Disney will release a movie that will reach me on a personal level.  For example, I watched The Emperor’s New Groove the day before my 18th birthday and that was the time frame of the movie, so it meant more to see it. And now I have Wreck it Ralph.

My life has been an up and down of turmoil and happy for a while now. On opening night, I had my kids and we were so excited to finally see this movie.  Fun fun. Then, the opening scene played out. We first see Ralph, as he is worried where his life is, as he is approaching 30, alone and hating his home...

Star Trek/Doctor Who #1-5

The two greatest science-fiction properties of all time cross over for the first time in history! When the Federation’s most terrifying enemy strikes an unholy alliance with one of the Doctor’s most hated antagonists, the result is devastation on a cosmic scale! Spanning the ends of space and time itself, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the USS Enterprise find themselves joining forces with the time-travelling Doctor and his companions, with the fate of the galaxy hanging in the balance!

The Good
The Crossover/history – I’m not a Star Trek fan, probably never will be, but even I got excited when I 1st heard about this almost 9 months ago.  For avid SciFi fans, the idea of this crossover is close to epic.

With each having been around for such a long time, it is hard to believe t...
