Kickstarter/Indiegogo of the Week: TMNT Adventures

Somehow I missed this coming. Apparently, I’ve been really just not been paying enough attention, and just missed it. I had specifically planned a playthrough of TMNT: Shadows of the Past in the fall with some other Turtle fans that was to be live streamed on The Watch. Through a combination of bad luck and more bad luck, that game never happened. Thankfully we were able to pull together a game last week, and it was a blast! It was a bit chaotic, but you can watch the archived stream at the bottom of this Spotlight. It was during that game I found out this campaign was launching, and we’re here today which is what’s important.

This campaign covers not one, but two new games in the Adventures game system by Kevin Wilson...

Usagi Yojimbo / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Complete Collection

I love Usagi Yojimbo. I love the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. When these two anamorphic powerhouses cross paths I love it even more. I love everything in this collection. Yet somehow I don’t think the timing for this collection was right. I think the main reason for that feeling is that the last story in the collection, Namazu has been published three previous times in the past 13 months, with Turtle Soup and Rabbit Stew being included with the last printing. At least the last of those editions didn’t really need to happen. But let’s forget about that, and look at the good things, shall we?

First up is Turtle Soup and Rabbit Stew, the first crossover story from Turtle Soup (Mirage Studios), a 1987 anthology of different artists/writers playing in the TMNT sandbox...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Kevin Eastman Notebook Series: Michelangelo

TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman has been making comics for 30 years—and across three decades he’s amassed mountains of developmental character sketches, script notes, page roughs, and even alternate pages. Along the way he’s created one-of-a-kind notebooks filled with the detritus of his process, entirely unique collections exploring the inner workings of his creative methods. But now these unattainable treasures are ready for fans far and wide, tirelessly reproduced from the original notebooks, and curated by the foremost TMNT authority in the world!

There are certain creative names that you automatically light up when you hear or see them. I think for many people, myself included, one of those names would have to be Kevin Eastman...

Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures #1

When villains start to mysteriously escape Arkham, Batman seeks to track them down. What happens when he discovers that they have left Gotham completely… and entered the TMNT’s New York City?

Ok, let me just start off by saying that this is almost unfair in how easily it would be a sell for me. It’s not the first time it’s been done either, combining my favorite superhero and a series I grew up with. In the next crossover of the Dark Knight and the heroes in a halfshell, Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures issue one will see these two meet again.

After brief intro scenes to (re?)introduce our two heroic halves, the factor that will bring them together is revealed to be Kraang portals that have suddenly appeared...
