Kickstarter/Indiegogo of the Week: Chai

So, I first encountered Chai at a fun gaming industry that was being held by a local publisher, I didn’t get to play it. We were at a charity gaming event together, still didn’t get to play it. I spent three days looking down the aisle at their beautiful art on a banner, still didn’t play. Why didn’t I play Chai? My own schedule aside, there was basically always someone else playing it. Day after day, event after event, I saw people playing it and heard people talking about it, until I got my grubby little reviewer hands on a prototype copy. My friends and I made some tea (because of course we did) and sat down to play. At the end I wasn’t left thinking “that was worth the wait”, I was left thinking “argh, why didn’t I try harder to play this sooner!”

This game is grea...

Kickstarter/Indiegogo Spotlight: Dreeple & Dreeple War Relaunch

Silver Lake Games is quickly becoming one of my favourite small publishers to watch. Their Duckaiju™ campaign was one of the most glorious bits of hype-building that I’ve seen in ages. When their Dreeple campaign first launched I wasn’t able to fit a full CrowdFUNding Spotlight on it, but as luck would have it I have a chance to make up for it.

The original campaign ended up being canceled, and after dealing with some manufacturing details, it’s now back with (very) slightly lower costing pledge levels, and a funding goal a quarter of the original campaign.

What are “Dreeples,” you ask? Dreeples are coloured acrilic Dragon Meeples. A Dreeple is approximately 2.5 inches wide, 2 inches tall and 3/8 inch thick...

Kickstarter/Indiegogo Spotlight: The Deck of Many Dungeons

Deck of Many Dungeons - Geek-o-Rama - Tabletop Gaming

Hi all! Katrina here with this week’s Kickstarter spotlight. This week, I wanted to bring you something that I personally found really cool and I found it with the Deck of Many Dungeons. I was first drawn to the art because it looked suspiciously like it was done by our good friend Travis Hanson.  Upon checking out the FAQ, I discovered that I was right! That got me in the door, but what kept me was the purpose of these really cool cards:

“Well it’s a deck of 54 playing cards, 53 actual usable cards which will have map elements printed on the back of them. A Game Master can use these cards to either shuffle up a random dungeon or to lay out their own custom dungeon for their friends!

The Deck of Many has 12 unique cards and multiples of each to literally allow a person to create well ...
