“The way you Avenged us…it’s Uncanny!”

Contributor:  Ross Demma
Event: Uncanny Avengers #1 Release Party
Date: October 10, 2012
Location: Heroes & Villains Comic Store, Tucson, AZ

Showing up to an event like this always energizes me with the prospect of infinite creative possibilities. Who will show up? What will they ask for? What will I draw today that I have never had to draw previously?  Even though I’m really only scheduled for a few hours, I always clear my day for these events.  Even if I’m not drawing for the whole day, I love the “network” aspect: meeting people, talking to them about every subject (at one event, I talked to a local astrophysicist at length about the potential of life in other galaxies and the possibility that any of them would visit/have visited Earth.)

Kickstarter of the Week: Christmas Fire

We here at Geek-o-Rama are all about supporting the indie comic book industry, as well as the fantastic friends that we’ve made within it. Each week, we’ll be bringing you a new Kickstarter or Indiegogo that needs your help.

Ross is looking for some people who believe in imagination and in adorable little purple dragons to help him get his book, Christmas Fire, professionally printed. You can read all about his Kickstarter campaign and then, if inspired by purple dragons and magic, help him make his dream into a reality. For more information, Ross can be found over on Facebook or on his web site.

Personally, we love Asbestos...

This is it. The post some of you have been waiting nearly two weeks for! I’m finally writing about my trip to Phoenix. I warn you that it wasn’t all pretty but in the end, it was all amazing. I will also warn you that all pictures on this post (and upcoming posts) were totally and blatantly stolen from my friend, Andy Bohn. Why? Well because I was distracted the entire weekend and typical me…next to no pictures. Read on and find out as I give you my day by day summary of Phoenix Comicon 2012 with random photos thrown in for good measure!

Thursday – Hereby known as Katrina was exhausted day. I was up at 4am after being up until 1am...

Quantum Conditioning

Image blatantly borrowed from Ross’ etsy shop

For quite a while now, I have had this little book sitting on the suitcases next to my bed (yes, I have suitcases stacked by my bed as a nightstand.) and I kept saying I was going to review it. Then, I went away this past weekend and brought back gazillions of pounds (just ask my shoulder) of new review material. In good conscience, I couldn’t move on to review any of that (and you know I’m twitching to) without telling you about this humdinger of a book.

Now, most of you probably know that I have a degree in Psychology (aka the expensive piece of paper). Imagine my total delight when I found out that Ross (creator of Asbestos who I totally adore) had written a book where one of the main characters is none other than Pavlov’s dog...
