I’ve said of this event in the past that I’ve been a bit let down by it, on how I felt it was, despite the scale, a very by the numbers event that probably wouldn’t be remembered that well. Those are rather bold statements to make. But with this issue, I can see how the series may balance out and read better when collected, forming a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Which is perhaps given the villains are an almost hive mind species called the Voord...

Competency. With so much happening these days, it’s so hard to read something so polished. Even if it doesn’t quite reach the highs promised by the initial few issues, Ei8ht is so magnificently concluded I can almost forgive it.

The key selling point of the issue is, as it has been the whole series, the artwork. Rafael Albuquerque ragged; kinetic artwork draws the eye to the page and makes you want to keep reading panel after panel.

I’ve spoken praises about this before and I’m happy to repeat it again...

Receiving two issues of this series at once has become a bit of a boon when it comes to Imperium. For a series that is so heavily plotted out in arcs, to be able to read several issues at once means I can see character development more clearly and see where it is going.

As is, the series continues to be gripping; especially now we are getting storylines from the view of Harada hi...
