Invader Zim #2

Dib knows ZIM’s sudden disappearance from Earth can only mean bad news for the human race. Can Dib stop him before Earth is just another alien-infested spaceside attraction like the universe’s biggest doughnut?

When we last saw Zim, he was rocketing off the Earth for seemingly no reason. Dib followed him in an Irken spaceship he inherited, and the two proceed along an intergalactic chase that ends up at numerous “spaceside” attractions, including the Universe’s Biggest Donut and the Infinite Head. I loved the Invader Zim TV series, and I love this comic about as much. It feels right, like a proper continuation. I naturally read the dialog in the voices from the series, I can hear GIR’s high pitched child voice in my head when the GIR in the comics speaks...

The Lion of Rora

This is the true story of Joshua Janavel, farmer-turned-freedom fighter, who Napoleon called history’s greatest military tactician. Janavel and his fellow Waldensians battled to save their people from tyranny and persecution, the first case in European history in which subjects of a ruler rebelled to defend their religious freedom. Their fight inspired the Protestant Reformation and, in turn, the American Revolution.

History and I have never been on the same page. For instance, I don’t know what the Ottoman Empire is and I tend to fall asleep at museums. If The Lion of Rora proves one...

ZIM and his filthy evil ways have been gone for what feels like years. But Dib KNOWS the alien menace will rear his head again, and he won’t leave the house, or his 900 security monitors, until it happens. And it WILL happen. Oh, it WILL.

An unfortunate reality of the world we live in is that Invader Zim will most likely never return to television. It was simply too weird and disturbing for mass syndication, and the two seasons we received are all that we have to remember…until now. Zim is back and it feels so good! This new Invader Zim comic feels like an appropriate continuation of the cult favorite television series...

Stringers #1

Paul and Nick are the guys who shoot the news. Filming car chases, fires, and shootouts in their busted-up rig, they put their (uninsured, unsalaried) lives on the line every night so that the good citizens of Los Angeles can get their daily update. But when a firefight between the LAPD and the MS-13 goes wrong, Paul and Nick find themselves on the run.

I’ve never been, but I’ve heard that Compton is a rather dangerous part of Los Angeles. According to Stringers, I can really make a name for myself as a journalist if I grab a camera and drive on down to gang zone and film the violence that occurs on those blood soaked streets. Based on events that unfold in this book though, I’m not really sure if that’s something that I should do!

Stingers starts rather abruptly, it feels like I ...
