Munchkin Deck the Dungeons

A Dungeons and Dragons/video game style telling of the Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. Two Munchkins, Spyke and Flower decide to take advantage of Christmas Eve being a day off, to raid the local dungeon. Figuring it would be easier to score more treasure without opposition, they wreak havoc throughout the dungeon with those they encounter. Trapped by a ghost in chains, they are given a special egg nog and imprisoned. During their brief imprisonment, they encounter the 3 Ghosts of Christmas, while continuing to cause chaos while accompanying the spirits. They eventually end up encountering a Krampus, who plans on eating the naughty duo. Do they mend their ways? Is there a Merry Christmas for all concerned?

Written by Katie Cook, this is a fun Children’s Christmas story...

The festive holiday season is upon us. Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Yule, Solstice, Festivus, toss in things like Boxing Day, the Chinese Lantern Festival, New Years, and probably a few things I’m missing, and it’s a busy time. But whatever you celebrate, it’s also a time for friends and family to gather and make merry. What better way to show your compassion for your fellow gamer then by stabbing them in the back and possibly stealing their stuff. Well now you can do exactly that with Steve Jackson Games annual Christmas offering: Munchkin: Christmas Lite.

For years Munchkin has released a variety of Christmas themed products to celebrate the season. These have ranged from Booster sized sets, to dice, coins, bookmarks, Christmas cards, and more...

Munchkin #9

Flower uses the power of social media to give advice in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

With the amount of different sets the game has for this series, we are always bound to get new settings. Granted, the traditional dungeon crawling scenario will always be how I think of Munchkin. Going into issue number nine though, we’ve moved into another very different genre.

After Spyke and Flower somehow managed to get transported to a post-apocalyptic world, they now need to learn how to survive in it. Granted, it has only been a week since this new world has been around. As it is though, Flower has already figured it out by starting a how-to survival blog that everyone follows.

The new genre our heroes find themselves in of course brings some drastically different art designs...

Munchkin #8

Spyke and Flower journey through a desolate, post-apocalyptic world.

Let me start off by apologizing for the above “summary” of this issue. Not only is it not a summary, but it’s practically a spoiler if anything. I almost wanted to write my own summary of Munchkin 8, but we’ll follow suit with the provided one. Just pretend you didn’t read it.

It’s back to fighting orcs and grabbing teh lootz for Spyke and Flower as they enter another dungeon. Coming upon a dragon near the end, they actually opt out of taking any gold given how much they already have. The dragon ends up tricking them into taking some, lifting his curse and placing it on them which turns them into the dragon.

And then after somehow breaking the curse themselves, the “summary” from earlier comes into play.

The art for ...

Munchkin #6+7

Spyke and Flower once gain take center stage in a classic adventure of Munchkin proportions.

Even the greatest of adventurers need a break from all the action once in a while. In the fantasy world, that’d usually involve stopping at an inn or putting up camp. Popcorn and DVDs aren’t exactly what you’d expect. We know better than that with Munchkin though, especially as we’re making our way into issues six and seven.

As in the last issue, and even stated right in the comic itself, the daggers and other weapons are put aside this time. Rather than loot runs, it’s two Munchkin movie nights with Spyke and Flower for some amusing parody versions of popular films...
