Klaus and the Witch of Winter #1

Klaus returns for an epic oversized one-shot, perfect for any comic fan’s stocking! Brought to you by legendary creator Grant Morrison and 2016 Russ Manning Award winner Dan Mora, join the continuing adventures through space and time of the man that would become Santa Claus.

One of these days, I’ll eventually catch up on all the excellent titles that catch my eye that I feel like I should be reading. The main title for this book just happens to be one of them, and all too appropriately does this make it my way. Earlier this year I got to check out the Pen&Ink for the first couple issues, and now the one shot for Klaus and the Witch of Winter reminds me that I really need to get the whole series.

Klaus #7

The seventh and final issue of this series arrives and brings with it all the action that readers could have asked for.  All looks dire for the poor villagers of Grimsviig as Lord Magnus has summoned a dark demon from the pits of gods-know-where to further his own ends.  He’s big, he’s ugly, and he likes to eat children.  What more could you ask for in your end of the world monster?  The villagers attempt to rally against the behemoth, but all things look pretty bleak until Klaus makes a triumphant return with a few upgrades from the forest spirits.  What follow is a battle that is all but legendary, living up to the fun and excitement that this series has been building up to.

This is a tale that has had many twists...

Klaus: Pen & Ink #1

This next installment of the Pen & Ink series collects Klaus issues #1-2 in an oversized, 11″ x 17″ format that features Dan Mora’s detailed inks alongside new commentary and creative insights from Mora and writer Grant Morrison.

Every so often as I read through reviews from the rest of the team, some of their feedback makes me go “huh, I should read that”. One of the more recent ones was the hit title Klaus, aka the heroic retelling of the origins for Santa. Adding to their Pen & Ink line, I got to check out Klaus: Pen & Ink and was able to get a glimpse as to why this book seemed so good.

I’m just going to assume that there’s a good chance you read our reviews of issues one and two, which this new Pen & Ink covers. If not, than I’ll do you a solid and point you to them here and here...

Klaus #6

With the ambush last issue, it didn’t seem like things could get much worse for our fledgling Santa, right? Wrong. They got worse. Klaus and his stalwart rescuer make their way slowly back to his home where he attempts to patch up his injuries. It’s not long though, before Magnus shows up with a few dozen soldiers at his back. Lili takes a few arrows and Klaus soon finds himself staked to the ground while Magnus drones on about his evil plans that apparently involve feeding the children of Grimsvig to a dark entity.

Dagmar tries to spirit Jonas away from her mad husband, but they are captured. The King pays a visit to rein in Magnus but he too is brought low by the beast that the miners have finally unearthed...
