I’ve used this point before but remains as true now as when Styne & Sondheim’s musical, Gypsy, debuted 60 years ago: You Gotta Get A Gimmick. In this particular case, the gimmick is a game that can be played in the dark. It’s not a completely unique gimmick, but the list of games that use it is exceptionally short. (I can only think of one off the top of my head, which was also created in Quebec interestingly enough)

One of the nice things about Galaxies, is that you don’t HAVE to play in the dark. You can, and doing so drastically improves both the theme and the experience, but it’s not required...

Kickstarter/Indiegogo of the Week: A Teddy Bear Tale Act Three

Did you know Teddy Bears have been protecting children from the monsters under the bed since 1902? Either did I, but apparently it’s true. A Teddy Bear Tale is the continuing story of Tristan the Teddy Bear and Wilma Bunny, as they find themselves on the front lines of the war with the Monsters Under the Bed!

This campaign covers the third installment of this cuddly opus by the team of Nick David, Veronica Smith, and Kat Roets. The sample pages in the campaign look great and makes me wish I wasn’t coming to the party in Act Three, thankfully there’s a pledge level for that.

Kickstarter/Indiegogo of the week: Kingmaker Anniversary Edition

A few years ago, well before I started TheRatHole.ca, I had the pleasure of reviewing The Curse of the Crimson Throne hardcover collection of Pathfinder’s second Adventure Path. Now, with 2020 approaching quickly, Paizo is pulling out the stops for a newly updated and expanded collection to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Kingmaker Adventure Path.

They are taking everything from the six-part 2010 release and updating it all to the soon-to-be-released Second Edition ruleset. But that’s not all, last year Owlcat Games released a digital adaptation of Kingmaker which greatly expanded the already ambitious story. Much of that expansion is also being integrated into this new version, with more being added as stretch goals are reached.
