Kickstarter/Indiegogo of the Week: Monsters of the City (5E)

I don’t think it’s a big secret that I generally avoid Dungeons and Dragons. I have nothing specifically against it, but there are smaller companies with less ubiquitous systems that deserve to have some light turned onto them. But one thing that Wizards of the Coast have done very well with 5th Edition, is encouraging third parties to play in their sandbox. They are far from the only company that does this, but it’s definitely a big part of their success.

Kickstarter/Indiegogo of the Week: Ducks in Tow

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of attending SHUX, put on by the fine folks over at Shut Up & Sit Down. Through good luck and good timing, one of the games I was able to play was a delightful prototype for a game about ducks with Stephanie Kwok of First Fish Games. Now, a few short months later here we are talking about the Ducks in Tow Kickstarter campaign.

Let me put this in no uncertain terms: Ducks in Tow was the most enjoyable game I played at SHUX. Period.

The premise is simple, serene even, the players are walking around a park feeding ducks appropriate duckie food, and taking pictures with some and adopting others...

In a small town in Vicksburg, Mississippi the children have been acting strange. There have been reports of parents being attacked by the very children they raised. Some have even gone to school to try and kill the teachers and faculty. The town sheriff has brought in a young rookie cop, Gary Marshall, to help with what’s going on and hopefully get to the bottom of why it’s happening.

Word Smith is a steampunk fantasy adventure where words come to life. A skilled artisan can craft words to evoke feelings and emotions from its recipients. Although not all words mean the same thing to everyone!

Victoria is the best word smith in the city, however a challenger from the Eastern Nations might steal Victoria’s title! There’s adventure, excitement and of course, lots of words.

Word Smith Volume 2 will be a 60 page (Final page count to be confirmedfull coloured, perfect bound graphic novel. It will be 260mm x 170mm (10.2″ x 6.7″) in size and printed on 150gsm internal pages with a 250gsm cardstock cover with cello glazing. (For those unfamiliar with paper gsm, I’m a little bit of a paper snob and this is high quality paper! )
