Kickstarter of the Week: Adventures of a System Admin

Adventures of a System Admin is back on Kickstarter, with Back to Business. This is issue #5 for the series, and their third Kickstarter campaign.

Writer/Creator, Juan Espinosa, is a Systems Administrator in real life and created the series to help educate readers about S.T.E.M. and using technology safely. We’ve all had that moment of trying to teach your older family member about modern technology. I swear this is a phenomenon as old as time; I can just see a cave-teen trying to teach the older cave-man that fire good. Today it’s more like “No, deleting Internet Explorer doesn’t mean you deleted the internet, Grandma. Also, why do you still have Internet Explorer…?”

The campaign (which funded on day 1) is specifically to raise printing funds for the issue plus the new Volume 1 TPB that ...

Kickstarter/Indigogo of the Week: Ultimate Articulated Cardboard Comic Book Action Cut-Outs

Every now and then something new and exciting crosses my desk. With my recent review of Muffenman #1 came another really cool Kickstarter project that includes Muffenman and many –MANY– more great characters. The campaign for the Ultimate Articulated Cardboard Comic Book Action Cut-Outs is chalked full of some legendary indie comic characters, in a medium that you’ll likely not see anywhere else. Creator Luanga ‘Lue’ Nuwame, is best known for his YouTube YouTube channel The Homemade Game Guru...

Kickstarter/Indiegogo of the Week: New Bristol.

To a broad segment of the RPG world, one of the largest and most popular systems is Savage Worlds. Over the years I’ve seen a ton of games built around the Savage Worlds engine, but I’ve simply never had the time or opportunity to dig into it. As a result, I see the logo and just pass by. That is in no way a negative judgment, simply reality of our limited and linear time. The reason I bring that up is to frame where I’m coming from in this Spotlight. I didn’t come across it via the Savage Worlds community, but rather from Endless Realms, which I’ve reviewed in some detail...

PREVIEW of Gruff:Whispers of Madness

Editor’s note: The following preview is based on a playable, but not finalized, product; in advance of a crowdfunding campaign.
Update: Some of the details in this preview have already changed from what is written here.-dc]

When Studio Woe puts out a new set for their game, Gruff, they don’t just toss a bunch of new cards at the world. They build on the lore of this world they’ve created. Because of that, I like to open my reviews with the “story so far” from the rulebook in question.

“Once upon a time, […redacted…] the Shepards of Woe!”

Nope! This is only a preview, I’m not spoiling it for you.

Alrighty, for those readers who are new to The Rat Hole, let me give you a touch of background. I’ve been lucky enough to review the previous four Gruff releases, and last ...
