Kickstarter/Indiegogo Spotlight & Review : Ichabod Jones – Monster Hunter #5

Ichabod Jones - Monster Hunter

Do you love crazy stories filled with monsters, magic, gore, and humor?

Have you ever read about H.P. Lovecraft’s Dreamlands and thought…”I wish this was funnier and gorier”?

Are you excited by stories that keep you on your toes and make you question the very fabric of reality?

Then you are going to love Ichabod Jones Monster Hunter.

Ichabod Jones is live on Kickstarter right now and I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of this book. I could spend all day telling you about it, but I don’t want you to read so much that you forget to go over and back it, so I’m going to keep it short.

The Good:
The art and story fit together perfectly. I cannot imagine a better pairing than Russell Nohelty and Renzo Podesta...

Bonus Kickstarter/Indiegogo of the Week: Fidget Factory

What I took away from this Kickstarter Campaign:

Fidget Factory by Antsy Labs, makers of the Fidget Cube, is a game involving wearing hats and drinking coffee. It also involves outwitting trolls and has a Cthulhu hat.

End of Spotlight, take my money.

Nope, that’s too short. Let me refill my caffeinated fluid of life and start over.

Coffee achieved, and we’re back. So I didn’t actually think we’d have a CrowdFUNding Spotlight this week. We do one most weeks, but it’s not something I like to force if things get busy or something doesn’t my eye, or the eyes of my staff. Then what pops into my feed, a few short hours before deadline, but a troll figure holding a custom die. Welp, there goes the plan for my morning.

So, like most good crowdfunding people, I started by watch...

Kickstarter/Indiegogo of the Week: Usagi Yojimbo RPG

As many of our readers know, before opening The Rat Hole I reviewed comics for and still do from time to time. If you’ve ever read any of my Usagi Yojimbo reviews there, you might recall that I’m unabashedly a fan of Stan Sakai and his long-eared protagonist.

So you can imagine my excitement when a Kickstarter Campaign for Sanguine Games crossed my desk as I sorted through my post-GenCon campaign pile. I have a copy of the Gold Rush Games’ Usagi RPG but haven’t gotten ahold of the Sanguine game (yet). Now there’s a second edition and it’s Powered by the Apocalypse.

I won’t sugar coat this, PbtA is not a system I have particularly enjoyed in the past...

Kickstarter/Indiegogo of the Week: Catdad and Supermom

Where to start? I guess by saying please don’t let the pure mess that is this campaign page distract you from the potential of how good this book could be. With art that is very Fairy Oddparents and an interesting villain, this book has some serious potential. I also happen to know that the editor on this book is much better than even the sample pages suggest. I really do believe that we need to start getting more comics into the hands of younger readers and this, along with Supercats and Awakenings – A Teddy Bear Tale are all really good places to start. Head on over to Kickstarter and pledge today!
