Project Superpowers: Hero Killers #5

Project Superpowers: Hero Killers #5 is the last issue of this beautifully snarky mini-series from Dynamite. There’s a little bit of everything here. Ray guns, retaliation, retribution, resurrection, re-killing, redemption, and a bunch of weird creatures.

Actually, that’s all I’m going to give you. If you weren’t already convinced by my last four issues worth of reviews, giving you more details won’t change your mind now. In fact, you don’t even get another random clickbait link, so there. Ryan Browne and Pete Woods have kept me entertained for the last five months, I have no doubt they will do the same for you.

Last month I threatened to give this issue only a single star just for ending, but honestly I can’t give it less than the 4 out of 5 stars that it has been sitting at ...

Faith and the Future Force #3

Writer: Jody Houser
Artists: Diego Bernard, Juan Castro, Cary Nord, and Brian Theis
Colors: Ulises Arreola
Publisher: Valiant

I feel like I’m repeating myself at this point, which is actually appropriate since that’s exactly what this comic is doing.

So if you’ve read the previous two reviews/issues, you already know what’s going on; evil robot “unmaking” time, timewalker recruiting various superheroes, various superheroes keep dying, repeat but with more heroes this time.

The Shadow #2 (2017)

When I wrote my review of The Shadow #1, I mentioned what a big fan I was of old time radio (OTR) shows in general, and The Shadow specifically. Dynamite’s newest series of The Shadow has so far only shown us the titular character in flashbacks and news reports. Issue #2 continues that, as we see The Shadow launch an assault on a mansion in upstate New York that ends in the entire building burning to the ground killing everyone inside.

The scene then perfectly transitions to a newscast covering the fallout of the fire, and then to the hospital room of an amnesiac burn patient and Mary, the medical student who has been working with him (off the record) to recover his memory...

Kickstarter/Indiegogo Spotlight: Modern Dread – A Horror Anthology of Modern Anxieties

I’m always down for a good old anthology of spooky stories and there’s better time than now for one. Focusing on very real, very now sources of unease, Modern Dread wants to stir up a handful of things that currently fill our minds with fear. Don’t be afraid to head over to the Kickstarter to learn more, but be ready to get scared once you read it.
