ARCHIE #700

Story by Nick Spencer

Art by Marguerite Sauvage

Letters by Jack Morelli

THE DEAL: Issue #700. Seven. Hundred. That should say everything about the staying power of Riverdale’s eponymous hero and his crew of pals. They’re all here, just like always … well, not exactly. Jughead’s still eating burgers like there’s a beef shortage, but now he does it as a restaurant critic for the local paper; Reggie is living like the world spins around him, fresh from football camp; Veronica and Betty have spent their summers thinking about their ginger crush – actually, that hasn’t changed since issue #1. Seriously, there have got to be better options in that town than one flighty, freckled boy.

They’d better hope so, anyway. Change is coming to town, and she’s got some secrets under her sleeve.

2000 AD PROG #2110

First off this is an anthology book, with 4 stories that take place in the distant or not so distant future. So for the sake of brevity in my review, I’m just going to give a brief synopsis and whether or not I liked the story and/or artwork. I’m not a huge fan of anthology books mainly because I always want more story they tend to be to brief for my taste and this book falls into that for me.

STORY 1:    JUDGE DREDD – TRIAL BY FIRE

STORY – RORY MCCONVILLE

ART – PJ HOLDEN

COLORS – JIM BOSWELL

LETTERS – ANNIE PARKHOUSE

SYNOPSIS: IN A PLACE CALLED MEGA-CITY ONE, IN 2140 AD. HOME TO OVER 100 MILLION CITIZENS. ON THE EAST COAST OF POST APOCALYPTIC NORTH AMERICA. CRIME IS RAMPANT AND ONLY THE JUDGES (EMPOWERED TO DISPENSE JUSTICE) CAN STOP TOTAL ANARCHY...

Grimm Tales of Terror No. 7 Vol 4: Polybius

Writer: Ralph Tedesco

Artist: J.G. Miranda

Letterer: Pablo Amelia

Publisher: Zenescope

Synopsis:  Donnie has had a life of success. After wrecking his car on an Oregon highway, Donnie finds himself in a convenience store not far from where he grew up.  In the store he meets a game he hasn’t played since 1983 and a return to the haunting memories that have followed him.

Review: Polybius is an urban legend that one of my children loves talking about. This is why it really caught my interest to read this take on  the story. This version really brought this legend to life in a morbid kind of way. Not only in the story itself, but in the detail of Donnie’s memories that surround the summer of 1983 and its aftermath...

ANGELS OF HELL #1

Created by Chris-Cliff-Reichard

Pencils by Karly Engracia

Ink by Vincent Alcantra

Colouring by Davi Comodo

THE DEAL: The Apocalypse is here. Demons erupt from the depths, tearing civilization into tatters. Money, work, politics – these things seem laughably trite when abominations are eating your friends as an appetizer and you’re the main course. But there’s good news – in the midst of Hell’s emergence on Earth, they arrive: the Four of legend, horses and all … and they’re our only hope.

THE GOOD: Angels Of Hell wastes no time sinking its teeth into the story; the end has come, we’re all screwed, grab your bug-out bag and hit the bricks. Why? It doesn’t matter! Have you seen outside? Diving right into the action keeps the reader focused on the page, rooting for characters, rather than ...
