Black Hammer – Cthu-Louise

Story – Jeff Lemire

Art – Emi Lenox

Colors – Dave Stewart

Letters – Todd Klein

This venture by writer Jeff Lemire in his Black Hammer Series is a one-shot story. That fact is welcome by me because I personally have yet to read any book in the Black Hammer series. I have been meaning to, just haven’t got there yet. The story is about a little girl who is half human half the Lovecraftian creature Cthulhu, and her plight dealing with the other “normal” students in her school.

I absolutely LOVE this book the writing is fantastic, Lemire paints a beautiful picture of teenage angst and pain through the eyes of this little monster girl. It is a fantastic allegory about being happy with who you are in life and appreciating where you come from.

The art by Emi Lenox is very good, it is very cart...

I’m not a huge fan of anthology books mainly because I always want more story they tend to be to brief for my taste and this book falls into that for me.

Colors by: Veronica Gandini

Lettering by: Richard Starkings and Comicraft’s Jimmy Betancourt

This issue we follow some more of the secondary characters one of which is a large furry feline named Mittens, who is a gruff behemoth of a cat, with a terrible CATtitude! He is sent by the titular character to do the absolute worst job on the ship! I’m not going to spoil what job that is, but if you ever owned a cat or multiple cats before, you know what that job is. they also deal with a bit of an overpopulation problem on the ship which I thought was biting commentary on some real-world problems...
