Shinobi: Ninja Princess #1: Lightning Oni

Ninja VS Monster Action is Back! After the capture and narrow escape of fourteen year old ninja-in-training, Shianndrea, the Toshigawa Ninja Clan has been forced to move to a new secret base further on the outskirts of Osaka. The evil Red Dragon has taken leadership of the rival Azumi Ninja Clan and is determined to fulfill the contract to capture Shianndrea at any and all costs. Now, with her new commanders in place, the stage is set for the Red Dragon to reveal her most powerful Oni yet, Yawata, the embodiment of war with the powers of lightning. However, Yawata has his own agenda and capture is the furthest from his mind.

It’s a combination of a bit of surprise and depending on the title even excitement to see a new volume revive a book after months or years...

Zombie Tramp Origins #2

The second issue in the remastered reprinting of the highly collectible original mini-series, that was never before released in single issues to the direct market.

Every great character needs a backstory, even zombies, right? I mean, zombie backstory would normally just be “average Joe is caught in zombie apocalypse, gets bit, is now zombie Joe”. Not much of a story there. Even before the majority of us were exposed to the events of Zombie Tramp Origins and its second issue, we knew Janey had anything but a typical history.

As I’m sure must be how it is for anyone freshly turned into a zombie, Janey is on a mindless killing spree in the streets, until Xula comes to her aid...

Infinite Seven #5

After the tragic events of last issue, Anthony “Smash Brannagan” Zane lies in a coma at the edge of death, while a friend from his past threatens to expose the Shadow Cabinet to the world, putting her in the crosshairs of the Infinite Seven! The status quo has changed, making this the PERFECT jump on point for new readers!

One of the more common ideas that seems to be attached to the life of a secret agent is that of being alone, cutting ties to a “normal” life. That’s hard enough for a grown adult to do, but imagine making that choice as a teenager. Of the many things that Anthony has been up against, this might actually be the toughest. Nothing is ever going to be the same from here on out for our young hero as we see in Infinite Seven issue five.

In the aftermath of the harsh endi...

Stray Ongoing #1

Writer: Vito Delsante
Artist: Sean Izaakse, Lee Gaston
Colors: Chris O’Halloran, Wilson Ramos Jr.
Publisher: Action Lab

*insert generic superhero story here*

Stray Ongoing #1 (or maybe Actionverse #1 ? It’s more than a little confusing) seems to be a reboot of sorts for what is referred to in an editor’s note as the “Classic Actionverse”. The events leading up to this comic are recapped in a long, complicated, essentially meaningless synopsis at the beginning. The Stray a.k.a Discount Batman encounters someone from his past and flashes back to when he joined Discount Teen Titans.

It’s… really as generic and uninteresting as it sounds. Completely by the numbers, with no hint of originality in the characters, dialogue, artstyle, world-building, or anything else...

Hero Cats of Skyworld #18

Bandit and the Hero Cats of Skyworld are in for the fight of their lives as they confront the Crow King and his wretched warriors. It’s time to storm the castle in this all out action packed issue.

If ever there was a time that I could have started off a review sounding like a D&D night, it’d be a book like this. Amusingly enough, it just happened to be another Action Lab book that I did that with recently. But, enough of that mostly irrelevant nonsense, let us now move onto talking about issue eighteen of Hero Cats of Skyworld.

With Bandit working together with this world’s own Hero Cats team, after training for months, they finally proceed with their plan. He and each of the cats in his temporary new team do their part based on the various abilities to set up for the ultimate goal...
