Normally I would do a good, bad, summary but this book is a bit different. Honestly, it’s good. I enjoyed the story so far. It doesn’t say issue 1 on it, but it’s written as an issue 1. From what I can tell, it was on Kickstarter back in July. This was a gift to me from a friend so I’m not sure if it came from that or not because I also saw mention of crowdfunding back in 2018. The story is really enjoyable. Something bad is coming and only Merilee seems to have any knowledge that the bad isn’t over after the initial occurrence. The synopsis is a bit of a spoiler for future issues that the bad is frost giants. That’s not mentioned or hinted at in the initial issue.

As for the art, it’s good. It fits the story style. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that there’s a definite lack of punctuation at times within the issue. It’s enough that I think the casual reader would notice this. The other problem? I don’t know if this series is being continued. I found a Facebook page, but it hasn’t been updated since 2019. I happen to be Facebook friends with the writer and I don’t recall him mentioning anything to do with comics for a while. It’s a shame because this is a comic that had a lot of potential to be a really good read. As a Michigan girl, I was especially excited for a series that took place here.

My recommendation? Check it out if you can get your hands on a copy. If you enjoy it, let Josh know and maybe he’ll complete the rest of the series. As for me? I’m going to send him this review once it’s live and hopefully that will nudge him.

I received a copy of this book from a friend. All thoughts, comments, and opinions are always my own.
