In this action-packed finale, Scarlett and Trent are imprisoned by the villainous Dante Ramon when they learn of the impending destruction of Las Vegas. With less than an hour to stop the devastation, Scarlett and her team must do everything they can to save hundreds of thousands of lives, and finally uncover the evil mastermind behind it all.
Everything that has been building up in the last three issues of this book suddenly and explosively come to a head. The writing for this last issue is outrageously good. I was very pleased with how the story evolved and then just steamrolled right to the end. Taylor very astutely made it a whole team operation as opposed to previous issues where it was a theme that Scarlett came riding to the rescue at the last minute. Using his complete cast of characters really added the punch this title needed to rise above the general spy story to something fun and unique.
And the art work. I can’t say enough good things about how all the scenes came together. The way Des Taylor mixes focus giving parts of the panel razor sharp focus and others pronounced blur make each image pop in the way that comics rarely do. The colors are a little garish but they just work so well in this title you never notice. This is a can’t miss tie-up to the Stardust story line. Miss it at your own risk.
