Rat Queens Special: Neon Static

Writer: Kurtis J. Weibe

Artist: William Kirkby

Letterer:Ryan Ferrier

Publisher: Image Comics, Inc.

Synopsis: The Rat Queens comic take a futuristic spin into a Cyberpunk world. The case?  Why are people being scammed out of their hard earned goldyen? The Rat Queens go down the line and behind the scenes.

Review: This had a great beginning. I loved the initial set up of the story. It felt like a vaudeville performance and I was interested in what was going on. The transition to the rest of the story was slightly confusing in how it related to the beginning, so I had to read this through twice to put the pieces together. Although created by the same artist, the style of art between the first panels and the rest have a different style, which proves this artist has a definite flair.

If you are a Rat Queens comic, you will love this different spin on the comic. It’s futuristic and fun. The storyline has a few different turns that are unexpected. For a first time reader of the series, I was only a little confused about what was happening.

I give Rat Queens Special: Neon Static 3 stars.
