Peter Cannon Thunderbolt #1

WRITER: Kieron Gillen

ARTIST:  Caspar Wijngaard

COLORIST:  Mary Safro

LETTERER:  Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou

SYNOPSIS – His level of genius is matched only by his heroics, and in humanity’s darkest hour, he’s the hero they need the most—alas, poor humanity. Peter Cannon—the man known as Thunderbolt—is only too happy to leave civilization to face its end.

THE STORY: So this books starts out with a group of superheroes pleading with Thunderbolt to help with an alien invasion and the book ends in a classic comic book twist when finding out who is behind the invasion. The writing throughout, I found to be ok but there was no explanation of what exactly is going on and where this thunderbolt character is coming from. Maybe that’s just me but I had to read this book twice just to remember what happened the first time.  I hope more of these characters background will be explained in future issues because this is a completely unknown character to me personally.

THE ART: Wijndgaard’s artwork is fantastic in this book, the pencils, and inks really flesh things out and the colors by Mary Safro really make everything pop.

Id say pick this book up if your a fan of the legacy of the Thunderbolt character
