Ursa Minor

Oh, Ursa Minor, how much you surprised me. Seriously, when I first heard of you, I didn’t think you would begin to capture my attention or my imagination. I never thought I’d love you. I agreed to look at you because of Ian‘s talent. Imagine my surprise when you hit my inbox and I got lost in your colors and your lines and your story.

Your story of a world where werewolves kill the president and vampires step in to help humanity was one I sighed at. I, like so many others, am tired of the vampires. You, however, are not about vampires. You are about one girl who tries to save us all from them.

Your pages are filled with the amazing artwork of Ian Snyder, the lines inked in by Merbitt and amazing colors and textures that were added by Luis Guerrero...

Rex Zombie Killer

Yay, another zombie book! I know that’s what you’re thinking and honestly, I thought it too. Zombies are the new vampires and honestly, I’d rather have sparkly vampires. Now, before you throw stones or glitter at me, at least let me finish this review.

Rex isn’t like any other zombie story out there. It isn’t about yet another group of people holed up somewhere shooting zombies in the head in the hopes to survive. Rex is all about a group of animals, including a baseball bat wielding gorilla, making their way across the country. Their goal? Safety and maybe a new home. Their challenges? Zombies (duh!) and the scum of the Earth that somehow always survives these things.

Before you know it, you’ll be falling in love with the characters and if you’re anything like me, cheering them out loud ...

Corey the Zombie Killer

I know what you’re thinking. What in the heck is Katrina doing? Zombies? The girl is the biggest wuss known to wussdom and suddenly she’s doing reviews on books that have the word zombie in the title? Has she lost her mind? Is she smokin’ something? Has she finally cracked? Will she ever be the same? Why did it take her months to figure out that CZKWorld probably stood for Corey the Zombie Killer World? Are fruit snacks really a breakfast food?

Ok, or maybe you’re just curious but not really having an entire internal dialogue like I just did. Just remember, I have never, in all of my 12+ years of blogging, claimed to be entirely sane or psychologically balanced.

Keep that in mind as I tell you about CZKWorld Studios’ Corey the Zombie Killer...

The Legend of Oz : Wicked West

Welcome to another comic book review! This one comes to us from Big Dog Ink. I first met these guys at the Detroit Fan Faire back in September and I have to say that they were super nice and friendly. I know what you’re thinking..”Of course they were nice and friendly. They were there to promote their product.” You would think that’d be the case, right? Sadly, that’s wrong. There were a lot of people there who were actually quite rude and others that just weren’t great with people. Artist temperaments aside, if you want to sell product, you have to be nice to the people. These guys? Super nice. If you ever get the chance to go to a con that they’re at, I highly recommend stopping by and saying hi. Even tell them I sent you....

Grimm Fairy Tales Myths & Legends 11

As some of you may remember, earlier this month, I revealed a secret to you. I, girly girl extraordinary, have a thing for comic books. I know this shocked many of you so I’ve given you a few weeks to mull this over and come to terms with it before posting my 2nd ever comic book review. I really do hope that you’ve come to terms with it because as of..well, recently, I’m an “official” reviewer for a couple of really awesome comic book publishers. I ought to ask them if they have awesome blog buttons or anything, but honestly, that’s a total sidebar and not the reason y’all are still reading…right? Let’s get to the review!

For my very first ever Zenescope review, I was sent a copy of Grimm Fairy Tales Myths & Legends Issue #11...
