1944, Beaches of Golden Sands, Normandy. General Rommel gives the last instructions to the members of the Axis forces for the defense of the Norman front. Among them, four young German soldiers. On the other side of the Channel, Robert Capa, a war photographer, Hard Gund, an American naturalized German, and two other G.I. from the Easy Company are briefed on Operation Overlord. In a few days, between the whistling of the bullets and the crunch of mortar explosions, Germans and Americans will experience fear, tears and death. Their blood will dye the sand of the red one that will become the infamous “Omaha Beach”
STORY: This vol is all about the Omaha beach invasion of France by the Germans. As far as the story goes this one didn’t grab me and was a bit of a slog to get through. Some of the world building is ok but overall didn’t suck me into the story or characters as vol 1 did. The new writer might have something to do with that but I lost interest pretty quickly in the story.
ART: The art in this volume is again top notch, much like volume 1 so at least that stays consistent throughout.
