STORY – VITA AYALA
ART – RAUL ALLEN AND PATRICIA MARTIN
LETTERS – SAIDA TEMOFONTE
Accomplice. Mentor. Savior. And now, Enemy of the State. Seeking to protect other vulnerable super-powered psiots (someone who can control electronics) like herself, Livewire plunged the United States into a nationwide blackout with her teletechnopathic abilities, causing untold devastation. After choosing the few over the many, she must now outrun the government she served – and those she once called allies. With the whole world hunting her, what kind of hero will Livewire be…or will she be one at all?
STORY: Straight out of Valiant’s Secret Weapons series, Livewire issue 1 is a fantastic introduction to a great new character, although if you haven’t read any of the Secret Weapons series you may be slightly confused at first, you soon get caught up in the story. The story flows well but they talk about an event that the titular character was involved with and being blamed for but they do not explain what happened it is apparently the consequences of what happened in the Harbinger Wars 2 series which I personally have not read. Just as a stand-alone book though, the story works for me and I don’t need to know exactly what happened. That to me is the sign of good writing.
ART: The art in this book is beautiful. The pencils and inks are smooth and well rendered. The colors are vibrant and stylistic I really love the art here.
4 out of 5 stars
