Kickstarter/Indiegogo of the Week: Binge Watcher’s Guide to Doctor Who, Season 11

I got to do a cool thing this week, I was a guest on The Legend of the Traveling Tardis Radio Show. The format for the show was a stump-the-panelist style game. I was a bit worried about how I would do against undeniably more knowledgeable panelists. Heck, a regular panelist on the show is award-winning author Mackenzie Flohr. She is putting out a book series called The Binge Watcher’s Guide to Doctor Who. How do I stump someone like that!? You can listen to how badly I did this Saturday on numerous platforms, and watch the video version next Monday on TLOTT’s YouTube channel.

Thankfully, she wasn’t on the panel this week. I assume that was at least in part because she’s part of the Kickstarter campaign for the first book in the Binge Watcher’s Guide to Doctor Who, Season 11.

Published by Riverdale Avenue Books, this book is a milestone for a number of reasons. First off, it will be the first fan-centric guide to Doctor Who. There have been plenty of official releases, but something like that will never be the same as one coming from the heart of a fan. Secondly, this is the first book in a planned series of non-fiction pop culture guide books. It won’t only be about Doctor Who, although there are at least 13 books planned for that. Also planned are guides to the Harry Potter films, Downton Abbey, the films of Stephen King, Parks & Rec, and more.

The book itself is done and will be printed and shipped next month. This Kickstarter is specifically to help fund a more diverse advertising push, aimed at getting this book into new markets that previous Riverdale Avenue books weren’t specifically suited for. There is a detailed breakdown of what the funds will be used for on the campaign, along with a great breakdown of how the book will be structured.

There are a surprising number of pledge levels for this book. $10 (USD) simply gets you the e-book edition of the book in the format of your choosing. $17 brings you a Trade Paperback edition or $27 for the Hardcover edition. $35 will get you a limited edition signed copy, and $100 will get it signed and an acknowledgment in all three editions of the book.

I’m excited about this to the point that I have put my re-watching of Series 11 on hold until I can grab it!

You can help get The Binge Watcher’s Guide to Doctor Who, Season 11 in front of like-minded geeks like you on Kickstarter until October 31, 2019.
