As Mark Twain matches wits with a book golem, Houdini learns a terrible secret about Amelia Earhart’s progress in the Elsewhere. In Vienna, a starving artist discovers his darker purpose.
Most of us have seen those “who would you pick” lists for the zombie apocalypse, super hero teams, etc. When it comes to this book though, it’s a very different list consisting of some of the best literary minds and pioneers. We already have an impressive team of Lovecraft and Tesla and the sixth issue of Herald looks to increase the ranks.
The book golem nuisance is about the meet his match as Mark Twain takes him on in the only way appropriate – a battle of words. While that is being taken care of, Houdini through dangerous means finds out where Earhart really has been all this time. And just when you thought no more historical names could be dropped, a certain young man by the name of Adolf begins his journey to infamy.
As with the last book, the golem and the continuation of the fight in this book made for more fun artwork. With the addition of the newest historical figure, the art team is growing in their list of well done illustrations of known people. Although there wasn’t much of it, seeing more images of the Elsewhere makes me want to see a battle there.
It’s great how this book can keep throwing us for curveballs that we never would have imagined. As long as it doesn’t dilute the overall story, the extra people being added haven’t been a problem yet. The latest individual we see definitely makes me want to read on and it should do the same for you.
