Still getting used to her new body and life in our modern day time period, Lila comes to find that she is not the only soul from the past that exists in the 21st century. After hundreds of years will Lila at long last exact revenge and put her soul to rest? Get ready for this action-packed second issue, “FIRST KILL!”
It’s pretty crazy just how much I’ve gotten into quite a few titles out of Action Lab in recent years. We’re just starting out with this one, but knowing the creator and how good book one is, this is my newest love. At only the second issue of Dollface, my eyes are eager to keep going with this title.
This next issue is our chance at getting Lila’s backstory, as told in her explanation to Janey (Zombie Tramp). It turns out that Lila was the sole surviving daughter of the last great witch hunter. Her soul’s reentry into modern society was shocking, but she adjusts, even in a doll body. Not long after her rebirth, she encounters the witch that almost killed her, getting her ass completely whipped. After getting some upgrades to fix how fragile she was, the adventures of this odd trio begins.
If you’re still somehow unfamiliar with Mendoza’s work, this is your new excuse to change that. It’s a bright, bold, super fun style, and is truly enjoyable to follow along with. Plus, he makes it totally ok to get funny feelings over zombies and living dolls.
Well now we know why Lila and her two companions are hunting witches with this look at her past. With that information revealed, I certainly look forward to seeing more of both past and present story unfolding. There’s no shame in being overly anxious to get your hands on more Dollface, take that however you want.
