BUST #1

Bust issue 1 cover

When this black and white turned up in my inbox I was thrilled to read a second comic about a fighter. I tell you I am so sick of vampire and zombie comics. Then I start reading.

At least it is still about a guy that’s a street fighter brought to life by award winning author Dave Cook. This is Dave and Chris’ first comic and they have come a long way since 2015.

Sadly bustcomic.com has gone dark, but cardsharkcomics is still around.

Bust #1 began the storyline that remains a Card Shark staple by the look of it. The only real problem is this isn’t fresh stuff anymore. The Walking Dead-like genre is full-up and I can see a future storyline plays out that brings us a character that is like a nice Judge Dredd. The story is going some place, there are four more books the duo have grown into.

Where Dave has used every single post-apocalyptic device in #1, I do have to drag myself through the middle. You can really tell Chris has come a long way in his style since this book, too. The Dick Tracy-like characters are a tad out of proportion.

Bust #1 is an older first indie comic in a line and it is a worthy read.

If you like B&W comics, if you also like zombie stories, this is a classic buy for you.

I give it a not-so fresh 3 of 5 stars
