The (mis)adventures of Zan and Jayna continue in Wonder Twins #3, and this series continues to be Wonder-ful (not even sorry about that pun.)

After a <quote> successful <unquote> first mission in issue #2, issue #3 gives us a perfect blend of action, character development, and plot development. Zan is pretty much just Zan, but Jayna meets a new friend who will probably destroy her in the school science fair, before having an alien heart to alien heart with Superman. There’s also a remarkable amount of backstory to Gleek, which is a pleasant surprise.

The League of Annoyance returns, and are out for retribution for their fallen associate, Drunkula (Sorry, Baron Nightsomethingorother)...

Detective Comics #1001

I mentioned the finale of Detective Comics #1000, was little more than a teaser to bring casual readers back for issue #1001. Well, it must have worked, because here I am. Not exactly eager, but cautiously curious as only a long time non-Bat-reader can be.

The story opens with Commissioner Gordon making a phone call from a playground littered with hundreds of dead bats. The news doesn’t surprise Batman, as the same thing seems to have occurred in the Bat-Cave. Seeking help to find answers, he makes a visit to Francine Langstrom, scientist and wife of Kurt Langstrom, aka Man-Bat who has been away working with the Justice League (Dark)...
