Who doesn’t like Surf and Turf? Well, what do you do when Surf and Turf doesn’t like YOU?????????

The Eisner Award–losing and winning drawing-room talkfest The Shaolin Cowboy returns and will try to answer those questions as the titular hero of the series finds that his road to hell is paved not with good intentions but old nemeses hell bent on bloody revenge . . . AGAIN!!!!

This is definitely one of those cases where I try to come into a series late and it doesn’t end well. It’s not to say that this book was bad, but I just plain had no clue what was going on. So when issue one asks The Shaolin Cowboy: Who’ll Stop the Reign?, that was not even a question I had.

Soupy Leaves Home TPB

Pearl Plankette ran away from her home to escape an abusive father and an unhappy future. Disguised and reborn as a boy named Soupy, she hitches her star to an unlikely hobo, and they begin their journey from the cold heartbreak of their eastern homes toward the sunny promise of California in this train-hopping, Depression-era coming-of-age tale.

Out of the terrible era of the Great Depression we still get the good tales of the ever moving hobo. Catching trains, avoiding police, making their way however they could, they had quite the interesting lives. In Soupy Leaves Home, we follow the life of a very different but just as interesting hobo.
